YouTube keyword tool
Find the phrases viewers type into YouTube for your video topic, then pack the best ones into the 500-character tag box without counting by hand.
No invented YouTube volumes. Check demand by typing each phrase into YouTube's search bar (the suggestions are real searches) or in YouTube Studio's Research tab.
YouTube tag packer
Paste tags one per line, most important first. The packer keeps as many as fit within 500 characters, counting the quotes YouTube adds around multi-word tags.

How YouTube search differs from Google
People search YouTube when they want to watch something: a technique demonstrated, a product handled, a problem fixed on screen. So YouTube keywords skew towards “how to”, “review”, “vs”, “for beginners”, “unboxing” and “mistakes”. Keywords where Google already shows a video carousel are a strong sign that a video can win traffic from both platforms.
Use the main phrase naturally in the title and the first lines of the description, say it out loud early in the video (YouTube generates captions), and put your effort into the thumbnail. Tags come last.
Questions people ask
How do I find keywords for YouTube videos?
Start with what viewers type into YouTube search: how-tos, reviews, comparisons, "for beginners" and mistakes. Generate ideas here, then check YouTube's own search suggestions by typing the start of each phrase into the YouTube search bar, and look at which videos rank and how old they are.
Do YouTube tags still matter?
Less than they used to. YouTube's help centre says tags play a minimal role in discovery and are mainly useful for commonly misspelled terms. Title, thumbnail, description and the first seconds of the video matter far more.
What is the YouTube tag limit?
YouTube allows up to 500 characters of tags in total. Tags containing spaces count their surrounding quotation marks, which is why the packer below counts slightly more than the raw text.
Does this tool show YouTube search volume?
No. We have no access to YouTube search data and won't guess. YouTube's own search suggestions and the Research tab in YouTube Studio (for channels that have it) are the honest free sources.
