When a keyword combiner is the right tool
- PPC ad groups. Service × location × modifier is the classic structure for search campaigns, and match-type output pastes straight into Google Ads Editor.
- Finding which local pages deserve to exist. Generate the combinations, then check which ones Keyword Planner or Search Console show demand for.
- Long-tail discovery. Product × feature × audience combinations surface phrasings you wouldn't list by hand.
For organic SEO, remember that combinations are candidates. Google's spam policies call out scaled content made mainly to rank, so a page per city is only worth it when each page has genuinely local information.
Questions people ask
What is a keyword mixer?
A tool that combines two or more word lists into every possible phrase, such as [plumber, electrician] × [london, manchester] → plumber london, plumber manchester, electrician london, electrician manchester. It is used for PPC ad groups, local SEO page planning and finding long-tail combinations.
What are match types?
Google Ads match types control which searches can trigger an ad. Broad match is written plain, "phrase match" in quotes and [exact match] in square brackets. The mixer can output any of them for pasting straight into Google Ads Editor or Microsoft Advertising.
How many combinations can I make?
Up to 20,000 in the browser. The count multiplies fast: three lists of 20 words make 8,000 phrases, so the preview shows the total before you export.
Should I build an SEO page for every combination?
No. Mass-produced near-duplicate pages (city × service, for example) can fall foul of Google's scaled content policies. Use the combinations to find which ones people search, then build pages only where you have something distinct to say.
